FAQ

Why per 100 g?

Serving sizes differ from brand to brand, so they can’t be compared directly. Per 100 g (or 100 mL for drinks) is the same amount for every product. Per 100 kcal is one tap away, and the label’s own serving is shown as a reference.

Can the values be wrong?

Yes. Text recognition can misread a label, and database entries can be out of date or incomplete. Always check the package. You can edit a scan to correct it.

Is this medical or dietary advice?

No. Fair Serving only restates numbers from packaging. It gives no medical, nutritional or dietary advice.

How does barcode lookup work?

The app sends the barcode number to Open Food Facts and shows the values it returns, converted to the same basis. Nothing else is sent. It is on by default and can be turned off in Settings. See the privacy policy.

How do I delete my data?

Delete a single scan from the History list, or use Delete All Scans in Settings. Deleting the app removes everything it stored. Nothing is kept anywhere else.

EU and US labels differ. Does that matter?

Labels differ in layout and wording: US labels list values per serving, EU labels usually list per 100 g or 100 mL, and some nutrients are named differently (for example salt and sodium). The app reads both and converts them to the same basis. Check unusual labels against the package.
