Privacy Policy
Short version: Fair Serving has no account, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Your scans stay on your device. Nothing is sold or shared.
Who is responsible
Fair Serving is made by Matthew Aberham. Contact: support@fairserving.com
What the app does with your data
- Camera. The camera is used on your device only, to read nutrition labels and barcodes. Camera images are not sent anywhere.
- Photos you import. If you pick a photo of a label from your library, the app receives only the photo you choose. It is processed on your device.
- Your scans. Scan results, label photos and imported photos are stored only on your device, in the app’s private storage (Application Support). They are deleted when you delete the scan, use Delete All Scans in Settings, or delete the app.
- Settings. Your preferences are stored on your device.
Optional barcode lookup
When you scan or type a barcode, the app can look the product up in the public Open Food Facts database. This sends the barcode number (and the technical information any web request carries, such as your IP address) to Open Food Facts. Nothing else is sent: no photos, no scan history, no personal details. Open Food Facts handles that request under its own privacy policy.
Lookup is on by default. You can turn it off in Settings, and the app then makes no network requests for barcodes.
What we do not do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs.
- No tracking, and no data sold or shared with anyone.
- No servers of our own: the developer receives none of your data.
Children
Fair Serving is not directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Your rights (GDPR)
Because the app processes no personal data on any server of ours, there is no data about you for us to access, correct or erase. Everything is on your device and you control it directly. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. For questions, write to support@fairserving.com. For requests about barcode lookups, contact Open Food Facts.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
